Recently, I attempted to find somebody on facebook. While searching their first and last name did not turn up this person, it did lead me to the facebook profile of a dog. I figure coming across a dog with the same name as you or a loved one would be kind of awkward. And if you’re in the business of naming things (dogs and people), it is something you should try to avoid.
The above table takes 2008 pet insurance data on most popular dog names compares it with the 2008 Social Security data on most popular baby person names. Obviously, you weren’t really thinking about naming your son Buddy, but it’s probably best to avoid Max, Jake, and Charlie as well.
On the flip side, if you’re naming a dog, you can improve the standing of the human Olivers and Jacks of the world by giving your dog a dog’s name, rather than a person’s name. But don’t take Pickles, because I’m saving that one.
Lastly, the best advice I can give you is don’t make a facebook profile for your dog.
