Alex's Personal Accomplishments: 2009
I imagine you are aware, but this fine year is moments from ending (and because the odds are against you messing around on the internet on new year’s eve, it may already be next year!). And before we begin what is sure to be another sometimes terrifying, often a little boring, but mostly pretty darn good year, we should look back and appreciate everything I have accomplished in the last...

I'd prefer to keep all my body parts where they...
Below are the google results (in thousands) when you search for “I’d give my X Y” where X is either “right” or “left” and Y is a body part that comes in twos. Sorry I didn’t try to make it pretty, but that data is what’s important.
Part | Left | Right
Eye | 117 | 95.5
Arm | 698 | 3,290

It's not that I don't have any plans...
But rather that my plan is to do very very little.
At this point, there’s only one person I actually know who is in DC. Which is great. In preparation for my person-free long weekend, I purchased a new video game. I’ve had my xbox for over a year, and the only actual games I’ve bought are Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Beatles: Rock Band. I’ve also downloaded...
Dinner Tonight

Jeans Week
Ever since starting at my job, I have been slowly schlub-ifying my work attire. Ties were the first to go, then I stopped ironing, a few months ago I stopped doing laundry altogether.* Lately I’ve stopped changing out of my sneakers once I arrive at work.
So I’m wearing jeans every day this week. My boss is out of town, as is another three fourths of my coworkers, so wearing jeans...

Experts weigh in on best music of the year
Leading economics professors with blogs also listen to music.
Two weeks ago, Harvard’s Greg Mankiw extolled the virtues of Lady Gaga. Just today, Tyler Cowen of George Mason and Marginal Revolution proclaimed his affinity for Wavves. I’m sure there’s some sort of Lady Gaga/Economics pun to be made, but it’s not coming to me.
Bonus: Noneconomist but respected Tax Policy...

It's really a very fun game
Sorry for the temporarily reduced internet presence. I’ve been doing some other things, such as getting halfway through long posts before deciding they’re garbage and scrapping them. I’m also in the process of applying to school. But mostly, I’ve been playing geometry wars on my xbox. That game is fun.
One of those aforementioned scrapped posts involved what I thought...
